Roaches

Roach Facts:

    1. Cockroaches in general produce a very distinct odor from their bodies.
    2. Bacteria and viruses, both potential disease producing organisms, have been found on roaches' bodies.
    3.  American cockroaches, which typically range from 1.25 - 2 inches long, can fly.

• Seal cracks and crevices that are the width of a credit card or larger.
• Adjust or replace weather stripping around exterior doors.
• Install screens inside exhaust vent covers in laundry rooms and bathrooms.
  

    3. Make it hard for roaches to live or hide near you home, eliminate hiding places such as:

• Lumber and firewood piles (stack them away from the home and up off of the ground).
• Remove leaf litter and bark chips next to the home.
• Do not put large stones such as river rock or rip-rap next to the home (keep it at least 6 feet away).
• Keep tree limbs, shrubs and bushes trimmed so they do not contact the home.
• Move trash bins away from the home.
• Keep lawn trimmed.
  
• Eliminate moisture directly next to the home (leaking hose bibs and air conditioner condensation lines are sources to look for).
